Less is More Challenge #450

Good morning

At Less is More it's the turn of our One Layer challenge.  While these can prove to be tricky, I think the theme this time gives a lot of options.  Here's the cue card...

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is one of our regular and talented participants and our June winner, Maaike!  Please do pop over to her blog to say hi and to take a look at her creation.

For my sample card I used some products which are new-ish to my stash but as yet unused, and I also used ink colours that I don't often reach for...

I sectioned off part of a stencil just leaving six dots positioned in the centre of my card base.  I then blended three shades of ink - the muted pink into grey/blue then into the green.  The transition from the pink to blue isn't a great blend but I love these three colours together.  I then stamped the two gorgeous eucalyptus images in black and stamped the small sentiment below.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Clearly Besotted - Round & Round
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Victorian Velvet, Weathered Wood, Iced Spruce; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Create a Smile - You Can Do It; Altenew - Flower Vine (sentiment)

Challenge entries:

NBUS - Challenge #29 - first use of stencil and stamp set
Happy Little Stampers - August Stencil Challenge - Anything goes

Thank you so much for taking a look, your visits and feedback are always welcome and appreciated.  I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Perfectly CAS August 2021 Challenge

Hi there

At Perfectly CAS the August Challenge is just beginning.  Here's your cue card...

I chose both stripes and dots for my DT card, and it was pretty easy to put together...

I began by laying down an area of adhesive on my card base using a glue runner, up to almost the half way point.  I then cut strips of polka dot paper and laid these down to create the stripes, before trimming off the parts that were overhanging the edge of the card base.  I then die cut a white cardstock panel with an angled stitched die and stamped the sentiment in black.  This was then adhered flat to the card base over the patterned paper strips.

This card is for my neighbour who turns 50 today so I thought this sentiment was perfect for her...and I'm clearly far from 110 lbs!  She had a little chuckle when she opened it this morning!  This sentiment set is a new purchase which landed on my mat earlier this week so perfect timing!

Materials used:
  • Patterned Paper: MFT - Summertime Polka Dots
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Stitched Basic Edges
  • Stamp: MFT - Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 3

Challenge entries:

NBUS - Challenge #29 - first inking of this sentiment set
Seize the Birthday - Challenge #220 - Stripes
The Male Room - Challenge #153 - 8th Birthday Celebration (I think this card works for any gender)

Thanks for taking a look, I hope to have more to share with you very soon.

Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop

Hi guys

Today I'm excited, on behalf of the team at Less is More, to be part of the Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop hosted by Altenew.

You can find full details and begin the start of the hop here.

Here are the projects I made for the hop, the first one using the gorgeous Flower Vine stamp set...

On some blush cardstock I stamped one of the vines in a pale ink first before colouring with Copics in blush and soft green shades, and then re-stamped using my MISTI and heat embossed it in white.  I die cut the panel with a scalloped rectangle and then stamped the sentiment in co-ordinating ink.  I love this set!  As well as the vines it has lots of tiny sentiments, great for so many occasions.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Altenew - Flower Vine
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Antique Linen (first image before colouring); VersaMark; Altenew - Mountain Mist
  • Embossing Powder: Brutus Monroe - Alabaster White
  • Die: Create a Smile - Scalloped Rectangles
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Cardstock from stash

Challenge entries:

NBUS - Challenge #29 - these new stamp sets were kindly gifted by Altenew to take part in the hop
Stamping Sensations - August Challenge - Any Celebration

And for my second card I used the Ditsy Print stamp set...

On some pale yellow cardstock I used the various layering stamps from the set to create the image, using inks from Altenew.  I then die cut using a pierced square and cut another slightly larger to frame it, popping the smaller one up on 3D foam.  The sentiment was stamped below in black.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Altenew - Ditsy Print, Flower Vine (sentiment)
  • Ink: Altenew - Peach Perfect, Orange Cream, Autumn Blaze, Frayed Leaf, Sweet Leaf, Forest Glades; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Dies: MFT Die-namics - Pierced Square Stax

Challenge entries:

Just Add Ink - Challenge #566 - Just Add a Frame

Thanks for visiting.  Please do join in the blog hop, there are prizes to be won and you could have one of your creations on the Altenew Blog!

Who's Turning 50?

Hi there

Just popping on this morning to share a card I recently made for a friend who was celebrating a milestone birthday.

This is a one layer card using just stamps and ink...

The stripes are one large stamp so I used masks to section off and ink up each strip one by one in a pastel rainbow.  I then simply stamped the black images over the top.  And done!

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Uniko - Background Blocks Horizontal Stripe; CAS-ual Fridays -WTF 2
  • Ink: Altenew - Citrus Burst, Minty Mint, Sea Glass, Wisteria, Pink Diamond, Blush, Peach Perfect; Versafine - Onyx Black

Challenge entries:

Seize the Birthday - Challenge #220 - Stripes

Thanks so much for taking a look, I hope you have a lovely week.  I'll be back with more tomorrow.

Less is More Challenge #449

Good morning

This time over at Less is More it's the turn of a Colour challenge.  I'll get straight to the cue card...

We have a fabulous Guest Designer joining us for this one.  It's Sid who was our winner for the month of May.  Please do pop over to take a look at his project for this challenge and to say hi.

For my sample card I used some products which are brand new to my stash and only arrived in the mail earlier this week.  Yes, that's how last minute my Design Team makes are these days!

I discovered Simply Graphic, a fabulous French company, thanks to my former LIM teamie, Chrissie, sharing some of her beautiful makes using their dies.  I just couldn't resist placing an order.

Here's what I made...

All the dies you see here are from Simply Graphic, apart from the sentiment oval.  I began with a piece of watercolour paper and used a mix of Brushos and water to create a background of differet blue shades, and it was this that the two main flowers were cut from.  I die cut the tall leafy stem from white cardstock and the shorter foliage from pale blue vellum.  I gave my card base a light splattering using Distress Ink mixed with water and then arranged and adhered the cluster of die cuts.  I stamped the sentiment in dark blue onto an oval die cut and adhered this using glue dots.  The card was then finished with a few pool toned jewels.

Materials used:
  • Dies: Simply Graphic - a selection of flowers and foliage; Lil' Inker Designs - Stitched Ovals
  • Stamp: Clearly Besotted - Simple Script
  • Ink: Brushos - Ultra Marine, Turquoise, Emerald Green; Distress Ink - Broken China; Altenew - Desert Night
  • Vellum from stash
  • Accents: Little Things from Lucy's Cards - Jewels: Shimmering Pool Mix

Challenge entries:

NBUS - Challenge #29 - I just had to share at Darnell's challenge, I don't think I've ever used new products so quickly before!

If you need more inspiration, don't forget that my teamies are sharing their projects over on the main LIM challenge post, and if you follow their links they may have more on their personal blogs too.

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend :)

Happy Little Stampers August 2021 CAS Challenge

Good evening

Going into a brand new month means a flurry of new challenges at Happy Little Stampers.  Here's the cue card for the August CAS challenge, which is just starting now...

I went super simple on my DT card for this one but I love this balloon base die and I've not used it for a while, here it is...

I used the balloon base die to cut a piece of aqua cardstock.  Before adhering to the upper part of my card base I blended from the edges with Speckled Egg Distress Ink, just to give the impression of some shadow.  I wanted some contrast so I die cut the tie and string from some bright pink cardstock and adhered these.  And to finish I stamped the sentiment, slightly curved to follow the shape of the balloon.

Materials used:
  • Dies: MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 26
  • Cardstock from stash
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Speckled Egg; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamp: Clearly Besotted - Simple Script

As with all the HLS challenges, the link will remain open until the end of August.  Thanks for visiting :)
