CAS with Designer Paper

Hi guys

We've whizzed around to another Saturday morning so it's new challenge time at Less is More.  As there are five Saturdays in April that means this month we have a Lucky Dip challenge for you and our theme is...

Use Designer Paper in a CAS Way

With every Lucky Dip challenge comes a Guest Designer and this week we have one of our fabulous LIMettes, the lovely Esther of The Carnelian Wood.  Esther participates every week and shows so much support by visiting so many of our entries!  It's a pleasure to have you as our Guestie this week, Esther xx

So, this week I have three cards to share with you.  Here's the first...

I wanted to create the look of a wrapped present for this card.  I took some red gingham patterned paper and cut two strips.  I also used a die set to create the bow.  As the bow had a stitched edge detail I used a straight stitched detail die to die cut along both edges of my two strips.  On a white cardstock panel I adhered the two strips and topped with the bow before stamping my sentiment.  The panel was then adhered on 3D foam.  I was really pleased with how this one turned out, it looks so much like gingham ribbon!

Materials used:
  • Patterned Paper: Pebbles - Sunny Side
  • Dies: Frantic Stamper - Small Solid Bow; Paper Smooches - Stitched
  • Stamp: Clearly Besotted - Celebrating You
  • Ink; Versafine - Onyx Black

Challenge entries:

613 Avenue Create - Challenge #173 - Anything Goes
Time Out - Challenge #55 - Celebrations with optional twist of die cutting/fussy cutting

I used some digi paper for this next card...

I started by printing the designer paper.  I then cut two strips of white cardstock, and a strip of the paper the same length.  I adhered the paper flat to the cardbase and the two white panels on 3D foam.  I then cut the scribble die cut from some pink cardstock and on a strip of green cardstock heat embossed the sentiment in white.  These were then adhered across the aperture.

Materials used:
  • Digi Paper: Pink Petticoat - Perfect Papers
  • Stamp: Personal Impressions - Mix & Match
  • Ink: VersaMark
  • Embosssing Powder: Wow! - Opaque Bright White
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Scribble

Challenge entry:

And a super simple design for my third card...

I die cut the balloon three times from polka dot papers.  I temporarily placed them where I wanted them and stamped the sentiment and strings, then adhered the balloons on 3D foam.

Materials used:
  • Die: Clearly Besotted - Make a Wish
  • Patterned Paper: Lawn Fawn - Let's Polka
  • Stamps: Lawn Fawn - Scripty Sayings
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black

Challenge entry:

Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes

I don't use designer paper nearly enough and I have a fair amount piled up in my stash.  But I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed creating these this week.  Why not have a rummage and join in the fun this week!

A Yummy Christmas Selection

Hi there

I'm back to share another little batch of cards I made earlier in the month to add to my Christmas card stock.

These use a lovely little set of images from Pink Petticoat called Merry Christmas Sweetie.  Pink Petticoat is due to close but it seems digis can still be bought at the moment so it's worth a look as you can grab some wonderful images and papers at knock down prices.

These were super simple to make.  I printed the images onto an A4 sheet of card, cut each one out with a stitched rectangle die and coloured them in with my ProMarkers.  The image panels were then adhered to card bases using 3D foam, the berries were accented with Glossy Accents and some Wink of Stella was also added to give some festive sparkle.

Materials used:

  • Digis: Pink Petticoat - Merry Christmas Sweetie
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Stitched Rectangles
  • Coloured with ProMarkers
  • Accents: Glossy Accents; Wink of Stella - Clear

Challenge entries:

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Food and Drink
My Time to Craft - Challenge #311 - Last Minute Christmas Makes
Craft Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge - Challenge #261 - Anything Goes Christmas
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for December - Anything Goes Christmas
Brown Sugar - Challenge #178 - Christmas
CASology - Week 178 - Merry (I was going to enter the previous 'Pie' challenge with the Merry Mince Pie but missed the deadline)

Thanks for popping by.  I have more Christmas cards to share but may share these with you tomorrow as there's a bottle with my name on it calling from the kitchen! :)

Have a lovely evening whatever you're up to.

Less is More Week 252

Good morning crafters

We've whizzed around to another Saturday which signifies a new challenge over at Less is More.  This week it's the turn of our Recipe challenge and this week our recipe is...

Fruit
Please remember to keep your creations clean and simple

I must admit, this one did stump me as I knew I had very little fruit related stash but I managed to get my brain in gear and create two cards for you this week.

A fabulous digi by Pink Petticoat helped me with my first card...

I love the images from Pink Petticoat and sadly the online store is due to close in the near future.  Some wonderful digis are still available to purchase at the moment if you want to grab some bargains.

I printed this digi, coloured it with my ProMarkers and then die cut with a fishtail flag die.  The musical notes were stamped onto the image panel.  I used two more of the fishtail flag dies to cut two pieces of co-ordinating patterned paper.  I adhered some kraft cardstock to my card base, layered the papers and finally popped the image panel up on 3D foam strips.

Materials used:
  • Digi: Pink Petticoat - Partridge in a Pear Tree
  • Stamp: Clearly Besotted - Rockin' Robin
  • Coloured with ProMarkers
  • Dies: MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flag Stax
  • Patterned Paper: MFT - Dots & Stripes Neutral; Doodlebug - Santa Express

Challenge entries:

Passion For ProMarkers - Challenge #324 - Christmas is Coming
A Gem of a Challenge - Challenge #158 - Inspired by a Christmas Song or Carol
CAS on Sunday - Challenge #72 - Christmas
Uniko - Challenge #27 - Christmas with optional twist of CAS
The Cutie Pie Challenge - Challenge #93 - Simply Cute and Christmassy
AAA Cards - Challenge #53 - Anything Goes

And for my second card, some fruity Christmas bling!

All the images on this card came from the same stamp set.  I stamped the glasses in silver, using my stamp-a-ma-jig to position them. I then used a stitched rectangle die to create the panel.  I stamped the strawberry, lime and holly and fussy cut these out before adhering in position.  I masked the central glass to stamp the straw.  I added some glue to the contents of each glass and added some fine glitter to add some festive sparkle.  This irridescent glitter is a lot more sparkly IRL!  For a tiny bit more bling I coloured a smooth clear gem with a red ProMarker and added this as the holly berry.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Stampin' Up - Happy Hour
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Stitched Rectangles
  • Ink: Versa Color and Versafine
  • Accents: Stampin' Glitter - Dazzling Diamonds; Gem from stash

Challenge entries:

The Crafter's Cafe - Challenge #137 - CAS with Food or Drink Theme
Addicted to CAS - Challenge #77 - Dimension

Thanks for popping by and I hope you can find some fruity inspiration and join us this week.

That's all from me for now, I'm off to have a long overdue hair cut and get some Christmas planning sorted.  I need to do a few bits each weekend otherwise it will be here and I won't have done anything!

Take care and bye for now

Less Is More - Guest Designer (week three!)

Hi there

Well, here I am again, back to help out the lovely ladies at Less is More while some are sunning themselves in exotic places!  Thanks for all your fabulous entries over the last couple of weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting you all :)

We have a new challenge just starting and we are back to the (dreaded by many!) One Layer Week!  So, this week's challenge is to...

Make a One Layer Card with the theme 'Water'

Please visit the Guidelines page here if you are unsure of the rules.

Here's my card.  After trying to think of an idea using watercolours or a water technique I ended up going in a completely different direction and used this bathtime digi!

I printed this image, 'Lola Rose Bubbly' by Pink Petticoat and coloured it with ProMarkers.  I then, of course, added some Wink of Stella to the bubbles.

And, as she's showing off her teeth in this image I went with this funny sentiment, from the 'Laugh Out Loud' set by Clearly Besotted, and it fitted perfectly under the bath!

I'm going to link this card up at the following challenges:

I Love ProMarkers - Challenge #268 - Anything Goes
Crafty Catz - Challenge #278 - CAS
Passion for ProMarkers - Week 295 - Keep Calm and Chill Out
613 Avenue Create - Challenge #122 - Anything Goes Feminine
Inkspirational - Challenge #81 - Word Prompt - Space (lots of white space here!)

So, why not have a go and join in the fun with your One Layer Water creations.  It will be great to how this theme can be interpreted.

Take care and I hope to see you again soon.

Namaste

Hi there

This is going to be a super quick post as it's already past my bedtime but I wanted to get this card linked up.

I made this one for my bestie who celebrated her birthday last week.  She loves her yoga so I found the perfect digi image for her from Pink Petticoat.  And I must have been psychic as the colours I used for this are the same as the colour challenge at Less is More this week!

Here it is...

I began by printing the digi on white card, coloured it in with ProMarkers and then cut it out with an oval stitched die.  I then masked of my card base, leaving the bottom corner free and applied embossing paste through a stencil.  This is a new one I purchased recently and I love the effect, I think you could be seeing this one a lot more!  I stamped the sentiment, popped the image panel up on 3D foam and lastly added the friend die cut which was cut from pink card.

Materials used:

  • Digi: Pink Petticoat - Lola Rose Namaste
  • Coloured with ProMarkers
  • Dies: Lil' Inkers - Stitched Ovals; Clearly Besotted - Friend Word Die
  • Stencil: Memory Box - Texture Scraped Paint
  • Embossing Paste: Dreamweaver
  • Stamps: Stampin' Up - Fabulous Phrases
  • Ink: Versa Color - Sky Gray

Challenge entries:

Less is More - Colour Challenge - Pink and Grey
Happy Little Stampers - February CAS Challenge - Embossing
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge #360 - Perfectly Pink

That's all for today, I'm off to bed now.  I hope to see you again soon.

Addicted to Stamps and More #130

Hi there

Yet another week has whizzed by and we're ready with a another new challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More.  This week, it's the turn of a...

Photo Inspiration challenge.
You can take any element from the photo that inspires you: the layout, image, colours, etc.

And with Valentine's Day coming up this month we've got a love themed photo for you...

This week's challenge sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and the winning prize is 7 digis!

Here is my DT card

I started by printing the digi sentiment on some white cardstock.  I then stamped the brush stroke images in rows in pale pink, pink and red before cutting it into a panel with a rectangular die.  Next I used some small heart dies to cut out some hearts from white and black cardstock.  The white hearts were coloured using the co-ordinating ink pads.  The panel and hearts were then adhered to the card base and I finished by adding some Glossy Accents to the three hearts.  I took my inspiration from lots of things here...the colours, the rows, the rectangle and the bold font.  This was super easy to make and I love how it turned out.

Materials used:
  • Digi: Pink Petticoat - Happy Heart Sentiments
  • Stamp: Stampin' Up! - Work of Art
  • Ink: Memento - Angel Pink, Lady Bug and Rose Bud
  • Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Classic Rectangles; Lawn Fawn - Heart dies
  • Accents: Glossy Accents

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Time Out Challenges - Challenge #23 - Valentine's Day with optional twist of Hearts
Just Us Girls - Challenge #278 - Sentiment as Focal Point
Simply Create Too - Challenge #78 - Valentine / Use Hearts
Inkspirational - Challenge #75 - Rose Colours
Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Love
Fantasy Stampers - Challenge #29 - P.S. I Love You
AAA Cards - Game 32 - Love Love Love

There is some fab inspiration from my fellow teamies over at ATSM so why not pop over and show them some love at the same time :)

Thanks for popping by, I hope to see you again soon.

Get Your Santa On!

Hi guys

I'm finally back!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families and friends and are looking forward to seeing in the New Year later today (or not too much later for some of you that may be reading this!)

With all the Christmas madness and having to work either side of the break I haven't managed to post any projects so I'm back this morning with a few posts to share the last of the Christmas cards I made this year.

Here is the first...

This was super easy to make.  I had the snowy background paper already printed for use on a previous card so I adhered this to the top half of the card base.  Next I took a white cardstock panel and used a snow drift die to create the curve and then adhered this to the bottom half.  I stamped Santa onto some white card and coloured him in with ProMarkers.  I then fussy cut him out and went around the edge with a black pen to make the edges crisper.  I popped him up on 3D foam and added some clear Wink of Stella to his beard and hat.  The card was finished by adding the sentiment,

Materials used:

  • Digi Paper: Pink Petticoat - Falling Snow
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Snow Drifts
  • Stamps: MFT - Christmas Cuteness
  • Coloured with ProMarkers and Wink of Stella

I would like to link this card up at the following challenges - finding these took almost as long as making the card! :)

Ooh La La Creations - Challenge #170 - Christmas
A Gem of a Challenge - Challenge #134 - Anything Christmas
Without Words - December Challenge - Christmas (Modern Look)
Dream Valley - Challenge #97 - Christmas
I Love ProMarkers - Challenge #250 - Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations - Challenge #294 - Christmas/New Year
Creative Card Crew - Challenge #77 - Anything Goes
Crazy for CAS - Challenge #60 - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge #353 - Anything Goes
Passion for ProMarkers - Challenge #277 - Bingo (I used 'die-cut/free/glitter')

Thanks for looking, I'll be back shortly with my next card.

Phew, I Think I'm Done!

Hi guys

*Warning* - picture-heavy post - a nice cuppa may be required to accompany this one!

Well, it may have been quiet here for quite a few days but behind the scenes it certainly hasn't!

After a few more evenings of printing digis, colouring, accenting, die-cutting and adhering I think I've finally finished this year's Christmas cards.  And I even managed to fit in a visit to our local theatre for Panto last night!

So, here goes...

All of these cards were created using digi images from Pink Petticoat.  I printed them off on A4 sheets, coloured them in, added some accents and used some dies to cut out the images.

These first two batches I quickly shared in my last post but I thought I'd include them again, together with some detail too...

Pink Petticoat - 'Frosty Friends'
'Frosty Friends' - detail

Pink Petticoat - 'Cool Yule'

'Cool Yule' - detail

Pink Petticoat - 'Sugared Spice' (there were 4 images but I made a boob on one of them! haha)

'Sugared Spice' - detail

Pink Petticoat - 'Treeos'

Pink Petticoat - 'Jolly Reindeer'

Phew, well if you're still with me, thanks so much for taking the time to look.  These digis have been absolute lifesavers for me this year, I had no idea how far behind I was until I added up how many cards I had last weekend.

Here is the short list of materials used:
  • Digi Images: Pink Petticoat
  • Coloured with ProMarkers and FlexMarkers
  • Accented with Clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents
  • Dies: MFT Die-namics - Pierced Square Stax and Stitched Rounded Rectangles Stax
  • Card bases and card for printing: Anna Marie Designs
  • 3D foam

I realise these may be too simple for some peoples' tastes but I love how CAS they are.  The detailed die cuts and the shimmer and shine accents add interest and there's tonnes of yummy white space, just how I like them.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Hopefully, once I've got these written and mailed I can get back to creating for challenges, I'm sad to have missed so many over the last couple of weeks.

Hope to see you again soon.

Chrismas Card Panic!

Hi guys

I thought I'd just pop by and say a quick hello.  Although I haven't posted on here for over a week I have in fact been crazily crafting.

Last weekend I realised I didn't have nearly enough Christmas cards made for the amount I had to send this year so I got sent into panic mode!  All of a sudden we are into the second week of December and until now I've just been plodding along thinking I had heaps of time....how wrong was I?!  I swear I must have slept for a fortnight, where did that time go?

So last weekend I concentrated on the cards I needed to send overseas and managed to get them in the mail, so now I can work on the remainder I need to create while I still have time to send within the UK.

Somewhere within the panic that was last weekend I took a few very quick (and completely rubbish) photos of some of the multiples I'd made so far.  And thank you to Pink Petticoat for these fab digi images.  They print four on an A4 sheet, so a bit of colouring, a few accents and die-cutting and I was on a roll!

I'll share some of these in more detail another time but until then, I'm off to get more made before the fun task this weekend that is writing them all!

Hope to see you soon, thanks as always for visiting.
