Less is More - Challenge #441

Hi there

At Less is More today it's the start of another fortnightly challenge and we're back with the One Layer challenge and here's the cue word...

This card was so quick to make and I love this shifted stencil technique, you really can create some great effects...

On a blue card base I used low tack tape to position the stencil and masked off a section before inking through it with blue Distress Ink.  I cleaned off the stencil and then repositioned it, but this time slightly offset, and then inked through it once again but this time with white pigment ink.  I find this works best by 'pouncing' the inking tool, rather than swirling through.  All that was left to do was stamp the sentiment...simple!

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Skull and Cross Buns - Diamond Harlequin Large
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Faded Jeans; Hero Arts - Unicorn; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamp: Paper Smooches - Sentiment Sampler
  • Coloured cardstock from stash

If you need some inspiration for one layer creations, please do take a look at the main LIM challenge post as my fellow teamies are sharing some great projects for this theme.  Thanks as always for visiting today, I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Perfectly CAS April 2021 Challenge

Hi there

The April challenge at Perfectly CAS is now up and running and here's this month's cue card...

After making this card I've realised I'm just a touch over the 1/3 rule.  If I'd brought my masking tape in a few millimetres it would have complied!  So please follow the challenge guidelines, and don't do as I've done! lol

These dragonflies are so cute though...

I first masked off a vertical section of the card base and ink blended the background with a cloud stencil and added a little green ink at the base.  Next I stamped and coloured all the images with Copics before die cutting with their co-ordinating dies.  The grass and bulrush images were adhered flat at the base and the dragonflies were popped up on 3D foam.  The simple sentiment, from a different set, was then stamped in black and I added some sparkle to their wings using a shimmer pen.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: My Favourite Things - Mini Cloud Edges
  • Ink: Distress Oxide - Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio; Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Pretty Pink Posh - Darling Dragonflies (and co-ordinating dies); Simon Says Stamp - Baby (hello sentiment)
  • Coloured with Copic markers: E15, BV02, BV04, YG09, YG17, BG000, BG13, BG15
  • Accents: Spectrum Noir Shimmer Pen - Clear

Challenge entries

CASology - Week 388 - Hello
Happy Little Stampers - April Stencil Challenge - Anything Goes
NBUS - Challenge #25 - first use of the dragonfly stamps and dies sets

As always with Perfectly CAS, the challenge will close a couple of days before the next one goes live so you have almost a month to play along.  I hope you can join in.

Sweetheart Anniversary

Hi guys

Just popping by quickly today to share an Anniversary card I recently made.

It's a really simple design but it took a while to make...

First I stamped the heart image in grey ink and then coloured in the flowers and leaves with Copics.  I placed the cardstock back into my MISTI, used some anti-static powder to remove any cling and then re-stamped over the top with VersaMark ink before heat embossing in white.  Next the image was die cut onto a square stitched panel before adhering to the card base on fun foam.  The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed onto a die cut strip and adhered over the top.

When I placed the image back into my MISTI the cardstock must have been very slightly out of position from the first inking so the embossing isn't covering the grey in places but I'm still happy with the result.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - My Sweetheart, Mini Messages
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black; VersaMark
  • Coloured with Copic markers
  • Embossing Powder: Brutus Monroe - Alabaster White
  • Dies: The Works - stitched square; Clearly Besotted - Stripped Die Collection

Thanks so much for stopping by, your visits and feedback are so appreciated.

Less is More - Challenge #440

Good morning

Happy Easter weekend :)  There's a fresh new Colour challenge just starting over at Less is More today so I'll get straight to it, here's the cue card...

Pink and grey is a colour combination we see very often, but I don't think I've ever combined it with gold.  For my Design Team card I decided to use gold embossing to outline my images...

This was the first outing of this cute little stamp set by Clearly Besotted.  I stamped the bunny and Easter egg, and then the smaller egg separately, with grey ink.  I then left the stamps in my MISTI so I could re-stamp later.  I coloured the images with copies and then returned the cardstock to my MISTI and restamped in VersaMark ink before heat embossing in gold.  I used anti-static powder beforehand to avoid any stray embossing powder clinging where I didn't want it.  I took two pierced square dies and cut my images out with one and embossed my card front with the slightly larger one.  I then stamped the sentiment on the card base, fussy cut the smaller egg and adhered the square on fun foam topped with the second egg.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Spring Plushies
  • Ink: Memento - London Fog; VersaMark
  • Coloured with Copics: RV02, RV10, C0, C2, C3
  • Embossing Powder: Wow - Metallic Gold Rich
  • Dies: MFT-Dienamics - Pierced Square Stax

Challenge entries:

My Time to Craft - Challenge #454 - Easter
Make My Monday - Challenge #145 - Easter or Spring
NBUS - Challenge #25 (first use of this stamp set)
STAMPlorations - April CAS Challenge - Anything Goes
Uniko - Challenge #64 - Signs of Spring (Option: Easter)

Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope you enjoy your Easter weekend whatever you are doing.  I hope that many of you are able to catch up with friends and family as best you can, certainly in the UK the restrictions are beginning to be lifted and we are able to meet small numbers outdoors.

Stay safe and I'll be back very soon with more to share.

Happy Little Stampers April 2021 CAS Challenge

Hi there

At Happy Little Stampers it's time for the April CAS Challenge.  Here's the cue card...

I thought I was going to struggle with this brief as I don't have much in my stash which would fit, but I Googled 'things with flames' and there's actually more to choose from than you first think.  I chose a rocket for my card...

On a die cut panel I masked off below the top third and stamped the foreground and the rocket.  I then made masks for these.  I ink blended very lightly with a neutral tone where I wanted the planet and then die cut a small circle mask and placed this over the inking.  I then ink blended the background sky using pink, purple and blue.  The masks were removed and I coloured the images with Copics.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in white and die cut this with a fishtail flag die.  To finish, I added some stars using a white pigment pen and then adhered the panel to my card base.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Out of this World
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Distress Ink - Pumice Stone; Distress Oxide - Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch; VersaMark
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Embossing Powder: Brutus Monroe - Alabaster White
  • Dies: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectanges; MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flag Stax
  • Accents: White pen - Sakura Gelly Roll 10

This challenge will run until the end of the month.

Thanks so much for taking a look, I'll be back tomorrow morning with details of the next challenge at Less is More.

Easter at Skull and Cross Buns

Hi guys

Today I'm sharing a couple of cards using some stamps from the Easter range at Skull and Cross Buns.

At Skull and Cross Buns, as well as stocking clear stamp sets, inks, stencils and embellishments, Emily's main passion is for making wood mounted rubber stamps.  The stamps are amazing quality and the fact that they are manufactured in my home county of Devon, makes me a huge fan.  Personalised stamps are also available so please do take a look at the website.

Ok, onto my cards, which both use the 'bunny bum' stamp, as well as some others from the selection.  Here's the first...

I die cut a faux stitched square and heat embossed the round sentiment and image in the centre in white before ink blending over the top with Distress Oxides.  I then placed the panel in my MISTI and stamped the bunny four times, leaving the stamp in position and turning the panel 1/4 turn each time.  I then stamped the hot cross bun in between the bunnies in a light brown ink which I then coloured with Copics.  I popped the panel up on fun foam onto the card base and added some adhesive and white flitter to the bunny tails.

Materials used:
  • Die: The Works - square stitched dies
  • Stamps: Skull and Cross Buns - Bunny Bum, Hot Cross Bun, Happy Easter Wreath
  • Ink: Altenew - Frosty Pink; Memento - Desert Sand; VersaMark; Distress Oxide - Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio
  • Embossing Powder: Brutus Monroe - Alabaster White
  • Copics: E50, E53
  • White flitter from stash

Challenge entries:

Make My Monday - Challenge #145 - Easter or Spring Card
Uniko - Challenge #64 - Signs of Spring (Option: Easter)

And my second card...

On my card base I adhered some patterned papers, one in a very thin strip along the top edge of another.  On a die cut rectangular panel I then stamped the bunny, sentiment and the daffodil (using mini stamps from a clear set) and coloured the daffodil with Copics.  I then used an embossing pen on the bunny's tail and added some chunky white embossing enamel in two layers for dimension.

Materials used:
  • Patterned paper: Dovecraft - Garden Party
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Stamps: Skull and Cross Buns - Bunny Bum, Happy Easter Quirky, Spring Motifs clear stamp set
  • Ink: Altenew - Coral Berry, Forest Glades; Memento - Bamboo Leaves, Cantaloupe
  • Copics: Y08, YG17
  • Embossing Powder: Stampendous - Chunky White Deep Impression Embossing Enamel

Thanks for the visit today, I'll be back tomorrow evening to introduce the new Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge for April.
