Designing for Honey Doo Crafts - Introducing Big Bold Blooms and Chrysanthemum

Hi there

I'm thrilled to be designing again for Honey Doo Crafts.

Amanda will be showcasing many of the brand's existing products on Hochanda this coming Friday, 12 July 2019 (Sky 673 / Freeview 85) at 10am and 3pm. 

As well as lots of the fabulous existing stamps and dies, Amanda will also be introducing two new large stamp sets: Big Bold Blooms and Chrysanthemum.  If you can't wait until Friday, these can be purchased direct from Honey Doo Crafts right now.

Here are my sample cards using these two new sets.  First up is Big Bold Blooms...

I began by stamping the three different sized flower images onto some clear vellum and heat embossed in white.  I then coloured these on the reverse using Zig markers, blending with a darker shade towards the centre to create some depth, and fussy cut them out.  The leaves were stamped and heat embossed in white onto some pale green vellum, and also fussy cut...

I stamped the sentiment on a white cardstock panel and ran this through my Big Shot with a wave effect embossing folder before adhering to the card base on fun foam.  I used the handle of a paint brush to curl the petals of the flowers before gluing the layers together.  Then finished by adhering to the panel and slotting in the leaves using glue dots.

Next up is another card using Big Bold Blooms...

I began by diagonally masking a section of the card base.  I then stamped the leaves in grey ink, masked these and then ink blended out from the masked edge with Distress Ink.  I then roughly coloured the leaves with ProMarkers.  Next I stamped the three flowers and coloured these with ProMarkers before fussy cutting, adding some shimmer and layering up.  The card was completed by adding the sentiment stamped in blue.

And now my sample card using the stunning new Chrysanthemum set...

On a white cardstock panel I stamped the largest of the flowers and then masked it before stamping the two smaller blooms.  All three flowers were then coloured with ProMarkers.  I then cut away part of the panel on the right hand side and fussy cut around the petals.  The panel was then adhered on 3D foam onto the card base over a strip of black textured cardstock.  I added a heat embossed sentiment on a black strip and finished by adding some dotted details to the flower centres with a white pen.

Guest Designer for Honey Doo Crafts - Selection Two

Hi guys

I'm back tonight to share my next batch of samples for the new release at Honey Doo Crafts.

Earlier, Amanda held a Facebook Live video showing the ten new stamp sets, along with all the samples from the whole design team which you can find, here.

And don't forget Honey Doo will be on Hochanda (Sky 673 / Freeview 85) this coming Wednesday 3 April 2019 so tune in if you can, if not, set your planners as I believe Amanda will be doing lots of demos along with showcasing the products.


Ok, on to my next few samples.

First up I used a stamp called Smell The Roses which is a truly beautiful image...

To create this one I heat embossed the image in white on watercolour paper and watercoloured it with Inktense pencils.  I added a little pale blue watercolour around the edge of the image just to lift it off the background a little.  I then used a paper trimmer to slice away part of the panel and fussy cut around the edge.  I stamped the sentiment and then popped the panel up over the card base which had a black strip adhered to the right hand side.  This is a CASE of a previous card I made, here, which used partial die cutting to create the same look.  So you don't need the co-ordinating dies to create this effect.

Next up I used the new Daisy May stamp set.  I was inspired by a card by the super talented May Park, here.  The stamps I used were a linear design as opposed to May's card which used solid images, so I chose to emboss it in gold and pair with orange tones.  I paired this with a sentiment from an existing Honey Doo set called Cheers...

I began with a panel of orange cardstock and stamped and heat embossed the daisy image in gold multiple times to create a frame.  I then blended Distress Inks in from the edge in co-ordinating shades to create ombre effect.  I finished by stamping the sentiment in black ink and heat embossed it in clear.

Next up is this gorgeous floral cluster image called Roses and Lilies...

I stamped and heat embossed the floral image in white onto vellum and coloured on the reverse with ProMarkers.  I then did some partial trimming, cutting away a vertical section but stopping where the image was and fussy cutting around the edge.  The vellum panel was then wrapped around an embossed panel and secured on the reverse.  The panel was popped up on fun foam and I finished with a sentiment embossed in white on textured lilac cardstock, die cut with a pierced square.

Finally, the last one for this post is a really simple card I made using the new Oopsie Daisy set...

For this one I grabbed some scraps of cardstock and cut strips of varying widths and adhered these alternately to a piece of thinner cardstock.  The daisy image was then stamped across the strips.  I then die cut the pierced curve from each side of the strip  I also did the same from the front edge of the card base, and adhered the striped panel aligning with the edge.  I then stamped the sentiment vertically on the inside of the card but as it's cut away it shows when the card is closed.  I love this sentiment, it could be ideal for an 'oopsie I forgot' belated card, or perhaps to send to someone who has had some sort of mishap, or if you've messed up and want to apologise.  So lots of uses :)

On a white cardstock panel I stamped the lily images, which are from a layering set, the first one masked before stamping the bud.  The sentiment was then stamped in black ink.  I embossed the panel with a wave embossing folder and then adhered the panel to the card base popped up on fun foam.

Muse Challenge #290 - Teal with Texture

Hi there

There's a new challenge just starting over at Muse and it's my turn to be your designer.

A super clean and simple design for you this time, with a little added texture...

I stamped the heart, sentiment, balloon string and balloon on a panel of white cardstock, double stamping the balloon with a darker shade to add some depth.  I like how the balloon string followed on perfectly from the end of the sentiment.  I then used an embossing folder to create the subtle wave texture.  It was then simply popped up on 3D foam and some silver enamel dots were added to finish.

Less is More Challenge #383

Good morning

I'm back today to introduce the new challenge just starting over at Less is More.  This fortnight we have a Recipe challenge and here's what we'd like to see...

In between a couple of super busy and tiring weeks at work I've managed to make just one card for you this week.  I'm so behind with my Christmas cards so I chose to create a winter scene and hopefully I've manage to capture some dimension.

I started by creating my top panel with an aperture, using some stitched rectangle dies.  I marked through the aperture onto the card base with pencil so I could identify the area where I needed to create the scene.  I cut some scrap paper into a curve to use as a mask and blended the skyline with two shades of pigment ink.  I then stamped the trees, some with second and third generation stamping to create the illusion of distance.  I added a little shading of ink before stamping the fence image, although I think my photo is a little too bright to see this.  For the foreground snowdrift I die cut some cardstock with a curved die and then ran it through my Big Shot in a wave effect embossing folder.  Before adhering this on some slim 3D foam I blended a little ink to create some depth.

Before adhering the top panel I stamped the sentiment in black ink and popped the frame up on 3D foam.

Valentine Bunnies

Hi guys

This evening I'm sharing a Valentine's Day card I made for a friend to give to his wife.  The design was pretty much left to me.  As it was a special card I made it A5 in size, instead of A6 which is the size I use for the majority of my cards.

Here it is...

I started by stamping the kissing bunnies and colouring them with ProMarkers before cutting them out with a stitched heart die.  I cut out a second heart and embossed it with a hearts embossing folder.  On a panel of deep red cardstock I stamped 'to my wonderful' in VersaMark and embossed in silver.  I also embossed 'Happy Valentine's Day' in silver onto a strip of vellum which was wrapped around the panel and secured on the reverse.  I stamped and embossed 'Wife' in silver and die cut with its co-ordinating die.  I adhered the panel flat to the card base and popped up the die cut sentiment on 3D foam as well as the bunnies heart over the embossed heart.  The photo below picks up the embossed hearts a little better.

To finish, I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the bow, pink hearts and the bunnies' tails.

Less is More Week #343

Good morning

Another week of August has rushed by and this morning over at Less is More we're back with a new challenge, and this time it's Recipe week.  We have an interesting one for you this time, here are the details...

I was at work the other day and with this challenge in mind began looking for ideas around the office.  I saw staples, paper clips, elastic bands, then my colleague shouted 'tissue'.  I took this idea and knew exactly which stamp set to use to go with it...

This was pretty quick to make.  I started by stamping the tissue box on some white cardstock then die cut around it with a stitched oval die.  I then stamped it again on some patterned paper and paper pieced the image  I then took a craft knife and cut a slit along the top of the box and tucked a real tissue inside, using just a little adhesive to hold it in place.  I cut another piece of the patterned paper using another slightly larger stitched oval die and adhered this flat to the card base.  I then popped the image oval up on 3D foam before stamping the sentiment below.

Stamping Sensations - August Challenge - Anything Goes

Now, for my second card I must give credit as this idea isn't mine.  There's a gift shop in the town where I work that also sells fabulous cards.  I got this idea from some card designs by Ruth Jackson who creates super simple designs and adds pencil shavings to parts of her images.  So I had a rummage through my stamps to find something that could work...

I started by stamping the stems and sentiment in black (I tried in green first but I wasn't happy with how it looked).  Once dry I ran the panel through my Big Shot in a wave effect embossing folder to add a little texture to the background.  I popped the panel onto the card base using fun foam and then to finish I adhered the pencil shavings in three colours as the flower buds, using Glossy Accents to ensure they stayed in place.  I think the effect would have been better had my coloured pencils been hexagonal but unfortunately, all of mine are round so gave a smooth edge to the shavings.

Muse #210 - Happy Anniversary Birds

It's whizzed around to my turn to be your designer again over a Muse card challenge.

This is the card I made for my brother and sister-in-law for their first wedding anniversary.  I hope there are plenty of elements you can draw inspiration from so that you can play along with the challenge; the layout, colours, dry and wet embossing, vellum, stitched panel, image coloured with pencils.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto a strip of blue vellum which I wrapped around a panel of cardstock I embossed with a hearts embossing folder.  This was adhered flat to the cardbase.  I then stamped the images, coloured with pencils and die cut with a stitched rectangle die before popping up on 3D foam.  To finish I added some Glossy Accents to the water splashes and the water in the bird bath.
