Parisian Sunset

Hi guys

Well, after messing around with some masking yesterday on this card I decided to carry on with that theme and make another card for the challenge over at One Layer Simplicity where their theme is 'Strip Down'.

I grabbed some different Distress Inks and instead of sunshine I went with a purple toned night sky...

I started by masking a vertical panel on my card base and blended from blue to purple then to pink.  I had already planned on stamping the Eiffel Tower but I didn't want it to look like it was floating so I masked and blended the section at the bottom in black to create the horizon.  I then used a french script stamp, stamping off first in order to create just a hint over my panel using grey ink. Don't look too closely though as I did make a faux pas (in keeping with the french theme, do you see what I did there? lol) as I picked up my stamp press the wrong way around and stamped the script upside down!  Oh, the perils of rubber stamps instead of clear ones - whoops! :)  Well, it's impossible to read when it's the right way around so I don't think it's very noticeable!  I then removed the masks and stamped the Eiffel Tower and sentiment in black.

Materials used:

  • Ink: Distress Ink - Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Black Soot, Weathered Wood; Versafine - Onyx Back
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Je T'aime; Stampin' Up - En Francais

I'm also going to pop over and link up at AAA Cards where their current challenge #46 is Maskerade/Masking.

That's all from me today, I'll be back tomorrow to share the new challenge at Muse where this week I will be your Muse :)
