Eye, Eye!

Hi there

This morning marks a brand new challenge at Less is More and we've whizzed around on our rota and we're back with that challenge that everybody loves......ahem.....it's our wonderful One Layer Challenge!  And our theme is...

The Eyes Have It (something with eyes)
Please have a look at our guidelines here if you're unsure of our One Layer rules

I've got three cards to hopefully give you some inspiration this week and for two of these I've used digi stamps...go me!

Here's my first card...

I printed the monster digi stamp (part of a prize I won a while ago) together with the sentiment using font KB Noodle Monster onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I then coloured him in with FlexMarkers using little flicks and dots to try to get the look of fur (not bad for a first try!).  I then printed him out again onto a piece of paper with a post-it note stuck in the same position and then used this as a mask while I blended the circle of dots through a stencil to create the the background.  Some glossy accents were then added to his big eyes to give a glossy embossed finish.

Materials used:
  • Digi Stamp: A Day for Daisies - Monster Joe
  • Coloured with FlexMarkers
  • Stencil: MFT - Concentric Circles
  • Ink: Distress Ink: Antique Linen
  • Accents: Glossy Accents

Challenge entries:

613 Avenue Create - Challenge #135 - Anything Goes (Happy Birthday)
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes Embossing
Happy Little Stampers - August CAS Challenge - Masking (playing for fun as I'm on the DT!)

My second card...

I only bought this stamp last week and couldn't wait to use it.  I stamped the owls image onto some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock (my fave kraft cardstock as it's quite light).  I then coloured the image in with some Derwent Coloursoft pencils.  I used a sponge dauber to add some white pigment ink through a cloud stencil and then added the sentiments, these from two Paper Smooches sets.  I then added Glossy Accents to all the eyes.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Stamping Bella - Branching Out Owls; Paper Smooches - Chubby Chums and Sentiment Sampler
  • Ink: Memento - Rich Cocoa; Versafine - Onyx Black; Versa Color - White
  • Coloured with Derwent Coloursoft pencils
  • Stencil: MFT - Cloudy Day
  • Accents: Glossy Accents

Challenge entries:

A Gem of a Challenge - Challenge #150 - Animals or Birds
Crazy 4 Challenges - Challenge #294 - Critters

And a freebie digi for my third card...

I couldn't resist this little kitty when I found him as a freebie over at Opal Manor.  Those eyes just drew me in, it's such a cute image. So I printed him onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloured him in with FlexMarkers.  The sentiment was then stamped alongside and that was it, finished.

Materials used:
  • Digi Stamp: Opal Manor - Hang in There
  • Stamp: Mama Elephant - Up and Away
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Coloured with FlexMarkers

Challenge entry:

CAS(E) this Sketch - Challenge #135 (I flipped the sketch from left to right)

I do generally struggle with digi stamps but on one layer CAS cards they are a good alternative and you're guaranteed to get a good impression (unlike my stamping skills sometimes as I still don't have that MISTI!)

Please pop by my teamies' blogs as they'll have more samples to share with you.  Can't wait to see lots of eyes in our gallery this week!

Have a great weekend.

Addicted to Stamps and More #128

Hi guys

Well, I'm back with my first card of 2015 for Addicted to Stamps and More.  We are sad to have lost a few members of our Design Team but are also happy to welcome some awesome new teamies, some of whom you will have met already if you managed to pop by at ATSM for last week's challenge.

So, onto this week's new challenge which is...

Holiday

We would like to see your creations using any holiday such as Christmas, Easter, a National Holiday, or feel free to interpret this as meaning a holiday destination, etc.

Not only do we have some new Design Team members, we also have some fab new sponsors for 2015.  And for this week's challenge we are sponsored by Deedee's Digis who are offering a prize of $15 to spend in the store.

So, without further ado, here is my DT card.  After making so many Christmas cards and with the weather being very dull here in the UK I decided to bring a little Spring to my crafting and found this lovely digi which I thought would be great for an Easter card.

I downloaded this free digi from Opal Manor and printed it onto some white card before colouring in with my ProMarkers.  I cut the panel to the width of my card base and die cut the bottom with a curved die.  I then did the same with two different patterned papers before layering them up.  I thought the curved cuts would work great with the curvy image.  I then stamped the sentiment before adhering the white panel.

Materials used:

  • Digi Image: Opal Manor - Easter Lily
  • Coloured with ProMarkers
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Fresh Flowers (sentiment)
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Patterned Paper: Doodlebug - Kraft in Color - Color
  • Die: MFT Die-namics - Snow Drifts

Challenge entries:

Without Words - January Challenge - Dreaming of Spring
Crafty Catz - Challenge #262 - New Beginnings (new season - nothing signifies the start of Spring more than a daffodil!)
613 Avenue Create - Challenge #107 - Anything Goes
Craft Your Passion - Challenge #245 - Anything Goes

So, whether you want to get a head start on this year's Christmas cards (!!!) or fancy making another holiday themed card, why not link up with us at ATSM.  As always, my fellow teamies have lots of inspiration on offer for you so why not pop over and show them some love :)

Oh, and before I go, those of you with eagle eyes may have noticed my fab new watermark on my photos.  Our wonderful 'boss', Kylie has designed these for each of us on the ATSM Design Team, and she also designed my other watermark too.  If you'd like a watermark unique to you please contact Kylie, details below, and she will be more than happy to help you...

Thanks for popping by and I hope to see you again very soon.

Warm Thoughts

Hi there

Tonight I've been watercolouring.  I've had a set of watercolour paints for years but they haven't seen the light of day for a very long time.

So here's a little card I created to combine a few challenges...

I downloaded a free digi and printed this onto watercolour card which just about made its way through my printer!  I gave it a blast with my heat gun to set the ink as I had no idea if the ink would bleed or not.  As it turns out it was fine when mixed with the water.  Once the card was dry I stamped the sentiment.  I cut the panel down and mounted it using 3D foam strips onto a purple card base, picking out the colour of the towel.

Materials used:
  • Digi image: Opal Manor - Beach (free download)
  • Watercolours: Daler Rowney
  • Stamp: Paper Smooches - Sentiment Sampler
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black

Challenge entries:

Less is More - Week 187 - I do like to be beside the seaside
Daring Cardmakers - Clean and Simple
A Gem of a Challenge - Challenge #127 - It's Summertime
AAA Cards - Game 18 - CAS Watercolour

I'm also going to link up with my teamies at Addicted to Stamps and More - Challenge #111 - Anything Goes (for Marie)

Apologies for the lack of posts the last few days, life just gets in the way sometimes!  That's all I have at the moment but I hope to be back again very soon.  Thanks for your visit as always.

Bye for now
