Perfectly CAS January 2021 Challenge

Good evening

I'm here to share the details of the new challenge over at Perfectly CAS.  After a six month break it's full steam ahead, the challenges being for clean and simple cards using just one third or less of the design space.

And the January challenge has lots of scope for you, here's the cue card...

I decided on some background stencilling and some simple stamping, and wanted to put one of my new stencils to use.  I didn't receive any crafty things this Christmas so I thought I'd treat myself instead!

This was super simple.  I blended through the stencil fading up from the bottom corner.  The leaves were stamped in dark grey and the flower head in two tones of grey.  The sentiments were stamped in black and I finished with some teeny clear gemstones.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: Funky Fossil - Scattered Straws
  • Stamps: Mama Elephant - Brushed Florals, Altenew - Thinking of You
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Shabby Shutters; Altenew - Pure Graphite, Industrial Diamond; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Gemstones from stash

Challenge entries:

AAA Cards - CAS Game #181 - Up to one third
Just Us Girls - Trend week #566 - Use a Stencil
Happy Little Stampers - January Stencil Challenge - Anything Goes
Make My Monday - Challenge #139 - Something New in your Stash (stencil)
Use Your Stuff - Challenge #413 - All About the New (new stencil)
NBUS - Challenge #22 - new stencil
Moving Along with the Times - Challenge #126 - New (stencil)
STAMPlorations - January Stencil Challenge - Anything Goes

Stencils are fast becoming one of my favourite tools to use on my cards so I'm looking forward to seeing your stencilled CAS cards in the gallery this month :)

Less is More Challenge #406

Good morning!

At Less is More starting today we are back with a Colour challenge.  Here is the cue card with the all important details...

Bright or pastel rainbow colours are welcome for this challenge.

Our generous sponsor for October is the fabulous Uniko and the lovely Bev is joining in as our super talented Guest Designer for this challenge so please do pop over and say hi.

I have two cards to share with you for this challenge, both of them using products by Uniko.

Here's the first...

I used stamps from three different Uniko sets for this one.  I used a double chevron stamp and used my MISTI to line up the stamping in rainbow coloours.  I then simply stamped the sentiment and heart in black ink, die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle and popped it up on fun foam.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Uniko - Background Builders: Chevrons, Flower Power #3 (heart), Big & Bold Hugs (sentiment)
  • Ink: Altenew - Crimson, Orange Cream, Warm Sunshine, Forest Glades, Caribbean Sky, Lavender Fields, Puffy Heart; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles

For my second card I used a fabulous Uniko stencil...

This was a pretty simple make.  I blended through the stencil using Distress Oxide inks in rainbow colours.  The image is quite large so I chose to cut this down with a stitched die cut to maintain white space on my card.  The panel was popped up on 3D foam and I added a small black sentiment strip, with the sentiment embossed in white.

Materials used:

  • Stencil: Uniko - Pure Florals: Chrysanthemum
  • Stamp: Uniko - Just Because
  • Ink: Distress Oxide - Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio; VersaMark
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Embossing Powder: Wow! - Opaque Bright White

Challenge entries:

Addicted to Stamps and More - Challenge #362 - Make Your Mark
Dream Valley - Challenge #211 - Clean and Simple
The Flower Challenge - Challenge #37 - CAS
STAMPlorations - October Stencil Challenge - Anything Goes

As always, you have two weeks to play along before the linky will close.  And don't forget, this is a colour challenge, not a rainbow challenge, so lots of options for you, just remember to keep your creations clean and simple.

I Miss Your Smile

Hi there

I wanted to make sure I played along at Muse this week as my fabulous teamie at Less is More, Sarah, is our Guest Muse this week.

Here's my card.  I used lots of the elements of Sarah's card to create this one...the black glitter die cuts, inlaid with the yellow/blue/green background, the stripy paper and also the popped up sentiment strip...

I started by watercolouring with Distress Inks in blue and yellow which also then created the green when blended.  I cut this out with a butterfly die and also cut the same butterfly from some black glitter cardstock then inlaid the bits and bobs onto a scrap of cardstock covered in adhesive.  I then fussy cut the completed butterfly.  The 'smile' was cut from the same black glitter cardstock and adhered over some striped yellow paper onto which I stamped the first part of the sentiment.  The butterfly was then popped up on 3D foam as was the rest of the sentiment which I stamped onto a small strip of white cardstock.

Materials used:

  • Dies: Memory Box - Vivienne Butterfly; Wplus9 - Flower Doodles (smile)
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Squeezed Lemonade, Mermaid Lagoon; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Wplus9 - That Is All
  • Patterned Paper: Lawn Fawn - Let's Polka
  • Glitter Cardstock: Best Creation

Here is Sarah's fantastic card, there's still the best part of a day to enter if you want to play along at Muse...

I'm also going to enter this card at the following challenges:

Penny Black and More - September Challenge - Add a Sentiment
Addicted to Stamps and More - Challenge #209 - CAS

And as this is the first use of my 'smile' die I'm also going to link up at Darnell's NBUS Challenge #7!

That's all from me today although I will be back tomorrow as it's my turn to be your designer over at Muse.  I hope you'll pop by again soon.

Happy Little Stampers Second Release Blog Hop!

Hi guys

As a member of the Design Team at Happy Little Stampers I'm thrilled to be taking part in this blog hop to celebrate the second stamp release....6 new stamp sets are now in the HLS store!

Here are the details of the hop...

This hop will run until next weekend and you'll need to visit each of the HLS designers and leave a comment for a chance to win a prize.

You should have reached me from the lovely Chrissie's blog.  If you've got lost along the way, don't worry, there's a complete list of all the hop stops at the bottom of this post.

I'm sharing two cards today, made using two of the new stamp sets, Whimsical Friends and Mix Mash...

I used both sets on this first card.  On a white cardstock panel I stamped the chevron, twice alongside each other, to create a longer chevron.  I then stamped the cute bird perched on this and coloured him in with my Zig pens.  I stamped the sentiment below in black, I think the 'miss you' works well with the bird looking into the distance.  I mounted the panel onto some bright orange cardstock to co-ordinate with the bird and then adhered this flat to the card base.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Happy Little Stampers - Whimsical Friends and Mix Mash
  • Ink: Versa Color - Turquoise; Archival - Jet Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens

Challenge entries for this card:

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge #396 - Anything Goes
Brown Sugar - Challenge #169 - ~Anything Goes

And my second card...

I used a combination of stamps from Mix Mash on this card.  I started by drawing a pencil line diagonally across the card to use as a guide.  I then stamped the starburst and circles in a repetitive pattern to fill in the lower half of the card.  I carefully erased the pencil line and then stamped the sentiment and chevrons to create a kind of border.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Happy Little Stampers - Mix Mash
  • Ink: Versa Color - Opera Pink, Cyan, Mint; Versafine - Onyx Black

Challenge entries:

Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations - Challenge #332 - Anything Goes

I hope you're having fun visiting all the designers and that you've gained lots of inspiration for using these sets.  The next stop on the hop is the wonderful Carol

Here is the complete lists of participants for the hop, if you've not started from the beginning you might want to get yourself a brew, it's a long list!...

I hope you're enjoying this hop.  Thanks so much for popping by and I wish you lots of luck with the prizes!

Addicted to Stamps and More #142

Hi guys

It's that time of the week again where we have a brand new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More.  This week we're back with another challenge where we would like you to...

Make Your Mark
Please use materials such as markers, paints, watercolours, chalks, sponging, etc. to make your mark on your project.

This week's sponsor is the fabulous A Day for Daisies and the prize for one lucky entry will be a $12 gift certificate!

Here is my DT card using one of our sponsor's digi images called Flowers In My Garden...

I've not used my ProMarkers and FlexMarkers for a while so I enjoyed colouring in this image.  I decided to layer up the image against the left side of the card, no idea why, I just went with the flow! Before adhering everything I first stamped the sentiment at the base of the patterned paper panel and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Then to finish I added a few Doodlebug Sprinkles.

Materials used:
  • Digi Image: A Day for Daisies - Flowers in my Garden
  • Stamp: Paper Smooches - Sentiment Sampler
  • Ink: VersaMark
  • Embossing Powder: Wow! - Opaque Bright White
  • Patterned Paper: Avery Elle - The Sorbet Collection
  • Cardstock: - Bazzill Basics (pink)
  • Coloured with ProMarkers and FlexMarkers
  • Accents: Doodlebug Sprinkles - Lily White

I'm linking this card up at the following challenges:

My Time to Craft - Challenge #289 - Spring Flowers
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge #370 - Clean and Simple
Brown Sugar - Challenge #143 - Anything Goes

Why not pop on over to ATSM to see what else my teamies have to inspire you this week.  There are lots of ways to Make Your Mark so I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge.
