Less is More Week #332

Hi there

It's One Layer challenge time over at Less is More this week.  One layer cards can be very daunting for many but they don't need to be, they just take a little more planning.  Here's our one layer theme this week so why not have a go...

Don't forget to keep you creations clean and simple and lease check out the challenge guidelines, here, if you're unsure of our rules.

I've got two samples for you this week and I chose honeycomb for my first 'sweet thing'...

I used a honeycomb die cut as a stencil and blended both corners of my card base with two shades of Distress Ink.  I debossed my card base with a stitched rectangle die to create the central sentiment strip then stamped the sentiment and the bee alongside it.  I used coloured pencils on the bee's body and covered the wings with clear Wink of Stella.

Hopefully you can see the shimmer on the wings better in this pic...

Materials used:
  • Dies: Tim Holtz Thinlets - Mixed Media; MFT Die-namics - Stitched Rectangle Stax
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Wild Honey, Fossilised Amber; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Cute as a Bug (sentiment); bee from set free with a publication
  • Accents: Wink of Stella - Clear; Coloured pencils

Challenge entries:

CASology - Week #252 - Insect

My second card couldn't be simpler...

I stamped the watermelon in the centre, three separate stamps being the green, red and black, and then stamped the sentiment below.  To finish I added some Glossy Accents to the seeds.  Perhaps a little too clean and simple but sometimes a simple image and message is all you need.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Fruitilicious
  • Ink: Memento - Cottage Ivy, Lady Bug; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Accents: Glossy Accents

Thanks as always for taking the time to visit.  My teamies have made some lovely creations this week so if you have the chance please do pop over to their personal blogs, they may even have more inspiration for you.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you're up to.

  1. I love these, Anita! The melon card is beautifully fresh and clean - I can imagine it as a set of funky notecards! The vibrant colour of the melon is just the right amount of pop. The bee card is so sweet and the embossed sentiment area makes a fabulous centrepiece with the cute bee. Gorgeous <3 Have a great weekend x

  3. These are a couple of real little beauties Anita! Ha! Looks like we had the same thought about the sweetness of honey. Love the way you split your honeycomb over the two corners and the sentiment on that card is magnificent. But, the pun on the melon card is the one that has stolen my heart this week - it's brilliant. Such a wonderfully CAS layout too and the glossy accents look great on the melon pips xx

  7. Swooning yet again at this duo of yummy treats, absolutely kicking myself that honey never even crossed my mind ... especially as I've got that die too and you are just too clever using it as a stencil. The sweet watermelon is sheer one layer CAS brilliance and really pops off the 'page/screen'
Hope you're having a fun weekend. Hugs x
