Less is More Week #319

Good morning, crafters

It's time for the challenge that gives many of us sweaty palms!  That's right, it's One Layer week over at Less is More and this time our theme is leaves.

I managed three cards for you this week and had fun making all of them! The leaves theme/one layer week combo actually works really well.

Ok, here's my first, although I was having a nightmare with the lighting.  I had to use my daylight lamp but this one looks completely washed out.  Photography isn't my strong point!

I used my Mini MISTI for the stamping on this card as I knew I was going to need to re-stamp.  The top and bottom images were done one at a time as I had to leave the stamp in position.  So I stamped once in white pigment ink.  Once dry I coloured in some details with a blue coloured pencil and then restamped in the white ink to re-establish the detail of the image.  The sentiment was stamped in a co-ordinating blue shade and that was it.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Magnolia Blooms; Altenew - Thinking of You
  • Ink: Hero Arts - Unicorn; Versa Color - Atlantic

I used one of my favourite layouts for my next card, masking is a great way to add a sentiment strip to a one layer card...

I adhered some masking tape across my card and then blended up and down from it with some Distress Ink, gently fading it out.  With the tape still in place I stamped the leaves and flourishes.  The mask was then removed and the sentiment stamped in black.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Marion Emberson Designs - Just Because; Altenew - Thinking of You
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Dried Marigold; Versa Color - Evergreen, Green Tea, Split Pea, Lauren Leaf, Cement; Versafine - Onyx Black

For my final card I added some interest by embossing my card base with a die...

I embossed my card base with an oval die using a rubber mat with my Big Shot.  I then cut the same oval from a scrap of cardstock and used this as a mask so I could blend the background.  I used my heat gun to ensure the ink was dry, and used some anti static powder before stamping the sprig of leaves in VersaMark and heat embossing in gold.  I then added a little water to the berries with a paint brush and blotted away the colour to make the berries appear lighter in colour.  Finally, the sentiment was stamped below in black.

Materials used:
  • Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Classic Ovals
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Aged Mahogany; VersaMark; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Stampin' Up - Simply Sketched; Altenew - Beautiful Day
  • Embossing Powder: Wow! - Metallic Gold Rich

  3. Three elegant cards today, Anita! I totally love the look of the white leaves against the kraft and your masked sentiment panel is a great way of adding interest to a one layer card. The inked oval on your last card totally looks as if it was added to the card base and the embossed leaves really pop against the rich ink colour - great effect! I hope you have a good weekend x

  4. These are so elegant and gorgeous, Anita! I love the blue and white against the Kraft on the first card; such a fab look. The second card is fantastic with the soft stamping giving the appearance of depth and shadows behind the mask. I really love this one <3 And what a great idea for the final card to emboss the oval and ink inside it for a striking and classy design! Awesome cards. Have a lovely weekend x

  6. A beautiful trio of one layers Neets and each one so different. Great pop of white and blue on the kraft card and love seeing those CBS sets out again. I think my fav would have to be the third one, oozing class and sophistication - just like me!!! The oval looks almost suede like and the perfect back drop for the gold embossing. Have a good week. x

  9. There's some incredible inspiration here Anita - all 3 cards are sensational. That white ink on Kraft in your first card is so on trend at the moment and adding the subtle blue gives a whole new look to that technique. Super blending and such luscious leaves on the second card give the sentiment strip real impact. Then we have a rich, opulent and dazzling focal point on the last card. All 3 are so stylish!

I've always love white against kraft paper and this card is no exception ! I know how much it is frustrating when your photo is not showing how beautiful the original is ! Don't worry, what we can see is already stunning ! I also love your design for the second card ! This design pops up so beautifully the sentiment ! I love the gold embossing on your third card, it is gorgeously popped up with this dark background ! Thanks so much for sharing and for inspiring.
