Happy Little Stampers December 2019 CAS Challenge

Good evening, crafters!

Today marks the last CAS Challenge of the year over at Happy Little Stampers.  As always, between 1st and 9th of each month all the various HLS challenges start and the linkies stay open for the entire month so there's plenty of time to play along.

Here is the cue card for the December challenge, and very appropriate as I had to scrape my icy windscreen before I left for work this morning, brrrrr...

I decided to make a one layer card using one of my favourite brands of stamps when it comes to Christmas and winter cards...

Card-io make fabulous scene-builder stamps so I went with a frozen lake as my focal point for this theme.  I began at the top and masked off the hillside slope with some scrap paper and blended gently with some dark blue/purple ink.  With the mask still in place I stamped the trees, using first, second and even third generation stamping to create the illusion of depth.  Next I used a straight piece of paper and added a slim line of ink blending to mark the base of the snowy hill and the edge of the lake.  I then stamped the skater and the deer, and for the reflection of these I stamped the same images onto acetate and then used this to transfer the mirror images onto the card.  To finish, I added some details with a glue pen and sprinkled with some fine glitter.

I wanted to keep this card true to the CAS style and couldn't figure out where to add a sentiment so I decided to leave it without one.

Materials used:

  • Stamps: Card-io - Mini Tall Trees, Festive Fun, Festive Scene
  • Ink: Versa Color - Neptune, Charcoal; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Accents: Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Frost - Frosty Dawn; Quickie Glue pen

Challenge entries:

CAS on Friday - Challenge #169 - Black, white and one other colour
My Time To Craft - Challenge #411 - Christmas Scene
Stamping Sensations - December Challenge - Anything Goes
Use Your Stuff - Challenge #386 - Snow
Addicted to Stamps and More - Challenge #369 - CAS
Fab 'n' Funky - Challenge #459 - Christmas

Thanks so much for stopping by.  If you still have some Christmas cards to create (I still have loads to make, I'm so behind this year!) then why not use this theme and link up, just remember to follow the CAS guidelines.  And why not check out the rest of the HLS December challenges, all of which you can enter until the end of the month.
