I've got a bright and cheerful card to share with you tonight. I made this for my friend's son who is celebrating his 5th birthday. I struggle with children's cards, especially for boys, so I'm glad I bought this little kite stamp to add to my collection.
I am entering this card into the following challenge:
And here's my interpretation of the sketch
I cut a strip of blue card and embossed the numbers using a brass stencil and a light box. I then cut the yellow card into a triangle and stamped the sentiment. I stamped the kite image using Impress ink in Jet Black and coloured with ProMarkers. I used an oval die to cut around the image and popped this up on 3D foam.
I decided to use three different primary colours and three different shapes.
Materials used:
- Stamps: Kite - Hobbycraft (from the £1 range of stamps); Sentiment - Papermania 'Stamping for Him'
- ProMarkers: Poppy, Tulip Yellow, Azure
- Ink: Impress - Jet Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
- Cardstock: Kanban 300gsm Brilliant White Cardstock; Bazzill Basics Premium Cardstock (blue and yellow)
- Die: Spellbinders Nestabilities - Classic Ovals Large
- Brass Stencil - Papermania
Thank you for visiting today, I appreciate you taking the time.

Fab card , great use of primary colours
ReplyDeleteThe use of colors is simple awesome :)
ReplyDeleteOoh - I still have a light box (I'll have to dig around for the stencils! lol!) I love this cheery boy's birthday card! Thanks so much for playing along with CAS(E) This Sketch this week!
ReplyDeleteI had to blow the cobwebs off my light box after finding it abandoned at the back of the cupboard! I don't have any number stamps so went with this option instead, was fun using it again actually! x
DeleteGreat take on the sketch & such a fun card - perfect for a little boy! x (p.s. I line up my stamps purely by eye....much too lazy to use any fancy tools lol)
ReplyDeleteThanks for replying Stephanie, you must have brilliant vision then, your stamping was perfect! xx
DeleteWhat a funky card - perfect for a little boy.

Wonderful embossing Anita! I got some freebie embossing boards but have no light box to use them. I may have to invest in one after seeing these wonderfully possible results :0) Mo
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your lovely comments today Mo. Just so you know, a light box is for use with brass stencils so the light shines through. Embossing boards are a little harder to use as you have to feel around to find the designs under the card x
DeleteOf course! Silly me! I got some second hand brass stencils with a view to using them with paste, but haven't as yet, I find the thought a little daunting, haha :0) x
DeleteGive it a go, I've used paste with them before. It can be a bit messy but that's the fun bit :) After carefully lifting the stencil off I then used some really fine glitter to coat the image, makes a lovely effect x
